Inception, as a word, means simply beginning or start. In truth, ideas are the beginning of many things. Without an idea, you cannot plan. Without an idea, you cannot dream. Without an idea, you cannot achieve. Ideas are of paramount importance. In Inception, (2010, Director: Christopher Nolan) the idea is brought to the forefront from its place behind the scenes. There are three things about ideas the movie focuses on: the genesis of, complexity of, and pervasiveness of ideas.

When is Writer's Block not a Block?
It sounds very much like the start of a truly bad joke. For those who have been afflicted with Writer's Block in its many forms, you can only stare at your medium of choice and hope against hope something, anything, will pop out at you and make those words flow again.
I could not get my words to move, so I wrote about Writer's Block instead and how it is far from being a block at all in my eyes. Read the entire poem here.

Teacher Furlough Days: What Do they Really Cost?
The teaching profession is near and dear to my heart. My mother, my grandmother, my uncle, and several people I consider to be close friends are teachers. So you can imagine how often I am treated to discussions about furlough days with the current tide in the education system. This prompted the question: What does a furlough day really cost as opposed to what it gives back in savings for a school board? School districts across the country are using the furlough method, which is giving teachers unpaid leave so that they can close down the schools and regain some of the operating costs, to try and make up for the short falls in their budgets. In a way, this makes sense, if you do not have to pay for the school to be open, then you are saving money. However, looking at it from a non-monetary standpoint, it becomes apparent furlough days may do more harm than good.
